PTE Essential is a modern English language test created by Pearson to meet the language assessment requirements of the immigration authorities. The immigration authorities have different language criteria for applicants of Canadian study visas, typically requiring international students to take an academic version of an English language test.
Recognition of PTE Essential means that now there are five language tests available to economic class applicants. In addition to the previous three language tests, two French language tests, TEF Canada and TCF Canada, are designated by the Canadian immigration authorities.
The Canadian immigration authorities require economic class applicants to demonstrate their language proficiency for economic establishment in Canada by taking a language test.
