Guardian or Student Visa

Canadian Student Visa

This visa is known as the Student Visa or Guardian Visa and is typically issued as a multiple-entry visa. However, the student extends the visa for one year after being accepted each year.

For high school students, studying at private schools costs approximately $9,000 to $18,000 per year, while studying at Canadian public schools has an annual tuition fee ranging from $14,000 to $15,000 for one academic year.

Home Stay Expenses

For high school students, there is the option to live with a Canadian host family, commonly known as Home Stay. This option is considered advantageous for some students as it provides an English-speaking environment outside of school. Depending on the type of home and its facilities, the living environment, and the number of meals provided, this choice may incur additional incidental expenses.

These Canadian families volunteer to provide these services, and the Ministry of Education introduces these families to the students.

Home Stay expenses with accommodation and three meals are as follows:

Services Cost

  • Homestay: CAD $11,000 for one year/two full academic terms
  • Homestay (including a two-week school orientation): CAD $11,000 plus CAD $550

** If the student doesn’t have health insurance: CAD $1,500 *** Registration fee: CAD $300 *** Registration fees are non-refundable.

Please note that expenses in the first to third rows are refundable only if the visa is denied.

Please be aware that it is recommended to book Home Stay in advance of the start of the academic term, as due to high demand, there is a possibility of not finding accommodation for the student.

Who can be a custodian for a student and what are their responsibilities?

Usually, individuals who have family or friends in Canada are better suited to ask them to be the custodian for their child. However, if you do not have a friend or family member in Canada who is willing to be a custodian for your student, we can also assist you in this matter.

By having a parent or guardian accompanying the student, they can stay with their child continuously for up to 6 months as an accompanying parent. If needed, this period can be extended for up to 18 consecutive months.

Custodian Responsibilities for the Student:
– Being present at the school on the registration day.
– Attending periodic school meetings.
– Being present at the school in case of emergencies, illness, or potential incidents concerning the student.

There are certain simple requirements for studying at different academic levels in Canadian schools, including:
– Being at least four years old.
– Having adequate financial support from the parents to pay for school fees and daily living expenses.
– If your child is currently studying at a school, providing academic records and recommendation letters from the school.
– Having a custodian in Canada.
– Having a Canadian student visa.

Note: If the student remains in Canada for any reason during the first semester of study, there is an opportunity to study in the second semester as well, and in this case, you will pay only half of the school tuition fee.

Important Notes Regarding Families Listed in Home Stay:
– Their criminal records have been checked by the police.
– Their profiles are available online for your review.
– Each home can accommodate a maximum of two students.
– Three meals are provided for the students.
– The quality of their services is regularly assessed, and emergency services are available for students.
– The home environment is safe and secure.
– The homes are close to the student’s school.
– Only kind, English-speaking, and responsible families are selected.
– Thorough interviews are conducted with the families to ensure their readiness to host international students.
– A comprehensive assessment is made of their living environment, including bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets, as well as washing machines and dryers, and photographs are taken.
– Families are selected based on the specific needs of the students (if any special needs are stated).
– Continuous monitoring of these homes is conducted, and both the student and the family are provided with an emergency contact number for urgent situations.
